Job Overview
The Chemical Production Operator PO3 plays a crucial role in the operational processes of our active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) facility. This position involves the setup, operation, monitoring, and cleaning of substantial equipment, including reactors, filters, dryers, and mills, essential for mixing and managing ingredients. Operators are also tasked with documenting observations and data related to the mixing processes, troubleshooting equipment issues, and contributing to process improvement initiatives and the development of work plans and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Execute processing steps as directed by Senior Chemical Operators or Production Supervisors, ensuring timely and quality work. Adhere to all departmental and company health and safety regulations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and relevant governmental regulations. Maintain accurate and timely records in production documentation under supervision. Report any injuries, accidents, or equipment malfunctions. Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment and follow established safety protocols. Ensure the production area is kept clean and organized in line with departmental standards. Responsible for the cleaning and sanitation of all production equipment and areas, utilizing appropriate detergents and chemicals. Maintain constant communication with Senior Chemical Operators, Production Specialists, or Production Supervisors regarding plant and equipment status, observations, or issues. Review new or updated departmental SOPs and participate in mandatory training sessions. When assigned to a different work center, operate in a support capacity, shadowing a trained operator knowledgeable in the specific procedures of that area. Arrive at work 15 minutes before the shift to prepare for the upcoming duties. Collaborate safely as a team member to achieve all operational goals. Education: Minimum high school diploma; College Diploma or CET (Chemical Engineering Technician) certification is strongly preferred; a post-secondary degree in chemical engineering or chemistry is desirable. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Mechanical aptitude, basic computer skills (e.g., MS Office), strong verbal and written communication skills, and a good command of the English language. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment and a willingness to work collaboratively with team members to enhance processes and product quality. Compliance with safety and quality regulations, including the use of protective equipment, is essential. Must meet the physical demands of the role, including extended periods of walking, standing, or sitting, lifting heavy objects, climbing, crouching, and operating tools and equipment. Flexibility to work continental (rotating days and nights) 12-hour shifts is required. A demonstrated continuous improvement mindset and knowledge of GMP requirements are advantageous.
