High School Mathematics Educator Required

Oxford Learning Centres, Inc. is actively seeking part-time mathematics educators to join our team at our learning centre. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy engaging with students, have a strong affinity for numbers and equations, and are dedicated to fostering skill development in these subjects.

As a Mathematics Educator at Oxford Learning, you will not be responsible for lesson planning prior to classes, as all instructional materials are provided. Comprehensive training in our unique educational philosophy and methodologies will be provided to all selected candidates.

Position Requirements

All Mathematics Educators at Oxford Learning are expected to work during after-school hours and evenings (typically from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM), as well as some Saturdays (10:00 AM to 3:00 PM). A commitment to the role until the end of the academic term is preferred, with the possibility of continuing through the summer months. Reliability is essential, as students will benefit from your consistent support.

This position requires in-person attendance. Candidates must be able to travel to the designated location. Please note that this is not a remote position. Vulnerable sector screening is a prerequisite.

We encourage applications from individuals who meet the following criteria:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Fourth-year university students with significant tutoring experience will also be considered
  • Teaching certification is an advantage
  • Strong understanding of the current Grades 9-12 mathematics curriculum, especially in senior math topics including, but not limited to, Data Management, advanced functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and vectors.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in teaching or tutoring mathematics at the Grade 9 to 12 level (or equivalent)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong mathematical skills with the ability to enhance students' comprehension
  • Capability to manage multiple students simultaneously

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will work directly with students as an Interactive Coach, with the following responsibilities:

  • Instructing up to three students at varying levels concurrently
  • Providing both online and in-person instruction
  • Adhering to the methodologies and philosophies of Oxford Learning
  • Documenting post-lesson notes
  • Completing daily updates on student progress
  • Maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor at all times
