Family Lawyer / Associate Opportunity

REAL-R is seeking a skilled Family Lawyer / Associate to join our team in Stettler, AB.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in family law, with experience in real estate, wills & estates, and corporate law. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop a career and life in a smaller centre in Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and representation to clients in family law matters
  • Negotiate and mediate settlements and agreements with opposing parties or their lawyers
  • Prepare and file court documents and pleadings
  • Represent clients in court hearings, trials, and appeals
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant laws, precedents, and facts
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as social workers, psychologists, and accountants
  • Manage and maintain client files and records
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and the community

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Law degree (Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Laws) from an accredited law school
  • Successful completion of the bar admission course and exam administered by the Law Society of Alberta
  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Alberta
  • Minimum of one year of articling experience under the supervision of a qualified lawyer
  • Demonstrated interest and competence in family law
  • Strong knowledge of the Family Law Act, the Divorce Act, and other relevant legislation and case law
  • High level of oral and written communication skills
  • High level of analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • High level of ethical and professional conduct
  • Willingness to travel and work in rural and remote areas
