Key Responsibilities:

As a Security Officer, you will be tasked with ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors during your 12-hour rotating shifts. Your duties will include:
  • Conducting proactive and reactive security patrols throughout the facility.
  • Writing detailed reports and investigating routine incidents.
  • Responding promptly to emergency codes and situations.
  • Providing exceptional customer service, particularly in high-stress scenarios.
  • Maintaining physical fitness to perform duties that may require extended periods of standing, walking, or sitting.
  • Monitoring security concerns and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Collaborating with healthcare staff to develop security plans for high-risk patients.
  • Offering a visible security presence within the Emergency Department.
  • Utilizing de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts effectively.
  • Supporting patient watch guards and working closely with law enforcement and emergency services.
  • Ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Immunization records including TB, MMR, and Varicella.
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification Level C.
  • Completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check upon hiring.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of security experience is preferred.
  • A diploma in Justice Studies or Police Foundations is an asset.
