Key Responsibilities- Preparation of food items, including salads and sandwiches, assisting in dishwashing, setting and clearing tables, and maintaining cleanliness in dining areas.
- Ensures a safe and hygienic work environment by keeping refrigerators, storage areas, service zones, and equipment clean and sanitary.
- Adheres to the values, philosophy, policies, and procedures of Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
- Education: Completion of Grade 10 is mandatory. A Food Handlers training certificate Level 1 or equivalent is required.
- Experience: Previous experience in food service is preferred.
- Personal Attributes: Professional demeanor, ability to work independently, strong interpersonal skills, proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking fluent English, good organizational abilities, capability to meet the physical demands of the role, neat appearance, punctuality, openness to constructive feedback, interest in working with the elderly, and a commitment to teamwork.
- A current criminal record check is mandatory.
- Portions and serves food and beverages on meal trays as per the menu; manages meal service carts.
- Serves meals within a dining room and cafeteria environment.
- Ensures timely service during meal times.
- Assists cooks in preparing special event meals and catering services as needed.
- Operates dispensing machines; measures and weighs ingredients for food preparation.
- Helps maintain cost control through portion management and proper storage.
- Cleans and sets tables; ensures staff cafeteria and dining areas are tidy.
- Receives and checks deliveries against invoices.
- Responsible for serving appropriate diets to residents according to menu specifications and individual preferences.
- Reports any relevant concerns regarding residents to the Supervisor or Charge Nurse.
- Ensures cleanliness and sanitation of the work area and equipment.
- Completes assigned cleaning tasks.
- Reports any equipment needing repair or safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Follows guidelines outlined in Infection Control and WHMIS/MSDS programs.
- Supports the mission, philosophy, and policies of Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.
- Maintains confidentiality and privacy.
- Assists with inventory management.
- Conducts oneself in a mature and responsible manner, demonstrating a positive work ethic.
- Completes tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Participates in the orientation and training of dietary staff.
- Promotes a respectful environment, recognizing individual uniqueness.
