Job Summary
The Woodlands Director will be responsible for managing and providing leadership for the harvesting, planning, and silviculture operations on AV Group's Crown Timber Licenses and Freehold Lands. This role will require strong leadership and management skills, as well as a deep understanding of forestry operations and sustainable forestry practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Woodlands Budget: Develop and manage the woodlands budget to ensure cost-effective wood delivery to AV Group's mills.
- Wood Quality and Cost Management: Maintain healthy wood inventories by species and form, and work closely with unit heads and central operations to reduce wood costs and improve fiber yield and quality.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate wood contracts with market participants and the government to secure favorable prices and volumes.
- Business Development: Identify opportunities to improve woodlands operations and develop strategies to increase revenue and efficiency.
- Leadership and Team Management: Provide leadership and guidance to the woodlands team, and work collaboratively with other departments to achieve business objectives.
- Sustainability and Compliance: Ensure that all woodlands operations are conducted in accordance with sustainable forestry practices and relevant certifications, such as FSC and PEFC.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Forestry or Forestry Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in the forestry industry, with a proven track record of leadership and management.
- Skills: Strong leadership and management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of forestry operations and sustainable forestry practices.
