We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Therapist II to join our team at BC Children's and Women's Hospital & Health Centre. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for providing occupational therapy assessments and treatment programs for clients/patients in the medical surgical area.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct occupational therapy assessments using advanced clinical reasoning and skill to identify client/patient needs and develop treatment plans.
- Develop and implement occupational therapy treatment programs for clients/patients, including developing innovative solutions to assessment and treatment issues.
- Document client/patient information, including relevant clinical data, assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and outcomes.
- Assess the need for specific client/patient equipment, including home/lifestyle adaptations, and assist clients/patients and families to obtain necessary equipment.
- Maintain communication with clients/patients and families/caregivers to foster optimal progress and develop supportive, collaborative, and therapeutic relationships.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary groups and teams, including physicians, nursing staff, and other paramedical professionals, to ensure quality care is delivered in a timely and effective manner.
- Baccalaureate in Occupational Therapy and licensure with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CSHBC).
- Two (2) years of recent related experience, including one (1) year in pediatrics or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
- 50 hours of post-graduate coursework/training related to additional procedures, techniques, and job functions for assigned area.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in groups, one-on-one, and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
- Demonstrated ability to function as a team member, motivator, and facilitator.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
- Demonstrated ability to develop educational programs and materials.
- Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment.
- Commitment to develop knowledge and understanding of legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in foundational documents, including Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan, and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study.
