Bureau Veritas Canada is seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our Pre-Incubation Lab team.
As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring adherence to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy and supporting compliance with all policies, Quality System, and Health & Safety program.
- Performing sample preparation and procedures related to microbial analyses of food samples and providing general lab support.
- Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) when conducting laboratory work or procedures.
- Ensuring accuracy in sample preparation and analysis, and employing proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabelling, sample mix-up, and cross-contamination.
- Identifying and communicating non-conformances to Supervisor.
- Maintaining training records and relevant qualifications.
- Meeting quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensuring samples are analyzed within holding time requirements.
- Keeping work area clean, neat, and organized according to good housekeeping procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A post-secondary education and/or equivalent related work experience in analytical laboratory.
- The ability to distinguish between different colour reactions.
- The ability to handle all kinds of food samples, including peanuts/nuts, raw meat, seafood, beer/wine, soy, dairy, and wheat.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A dynamic, energetic, motivated, and positive attitude.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good record-keeping skills and attention to detail.
- Organized with a professional attitude.
- Some lifting required (up to 20 lbs).
