Water and Wastewater Engineering Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water and Wastewater Engineering Operations Manager to join our team at the Region of Peel. As a key member of our Water and Wastewater Division, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategic priorities, overseeing daily operations of water and wastewater plants, and protecting infrastructure and the environment through the administration and enforcement of various bylaws.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the development and implementation of strategic priorities for the Water and Wastewater Division
- Oversee daily operations of water and wastewater plants, including water distribution and wastewater collection systems
- Protect infrastructure and the environment through the administration and enforcement of various bylaws
- Manage a team of Program Managers, Supervisors, and Project Managers
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for new capital infrastructure
- Develop new and applicable training programs for staff
- Ensure resources are available for staff, including construction and safety equipment
- Develop and implement vendor support networks for new infrastructure
- Coordinate commissioning and assumption programs for new infrastructure
- Implement asset and maintenance management programs
- Develop a hands-on training centre for staff
- Relevant university degree
- 5 years of people-leader experience leading the delivery of water and wastewater at a utility or related field
- Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) Water and Wastewater Operator Certification is desirable
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience and extensive technical knowledge in the operation and maintenance of municipal drinking water distribution systems, drinking water treatment technology, wastewater collection, and wastewater treatment
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience managing operating and/or capital budgets, applying a wide range of analytical techniques, change management, business planning
- Thorough knowledge of operational processes of wastewater and/or water treatment systems
- Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, and standards to ensure adherence and working knowledge of relevant environmental legislation
