Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of the Eastern Region, the successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting a diverse portfolio of business with limited oversight. This role presents a unique opportunity to enhance your expertise in a supportive environment where your insights are valued.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and underwrite new business and renewals within assigned underwriting authority.
  • Oversee a designated account portfolio.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Offer technical guidance, support, and training to junior underwriters.
  • Assess accounts based on organizational appetite, identifying viable business opportunities.
  • Facilitate cross-selling with other business divisions to enhance product reach.
  • Travel as necessary.
Qualifications:

Essential:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with over 10 years of underwriting experience or direct market engagement.
  • OR
  • Associate certified apprentice by Zurich, including an associate's degree and a minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience or direct market engagement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience managing tight deadlines for quotes.
  • Demonstrated teamwork experience.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Over 7 years of experience in underwriting substantial property risks.
  • Bilingual in English and French.
  • Analytical and inquisitive approach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proactive and initiative-driven mindset.
  • Familiarity with property terminology and concepts.
  • Experience in reviewing engineering assessments.
  • Experience with catastrophe modeling tools.
  • Insurance industry-specific training (FPAA, CRM, RPLU, etc.) is advantageous.
