About the RoleAECOM is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fluvial Geomorphologist to join our team in Canada. As a key member of our environmental and engineering projects, you will be responsible for applying your knowledge of fluvial geomorphology to deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Develop solutions for technical problems using scientific principles, theories, and existing technologies.
- Collect and analyze data, applying technical principles and theories to ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.
- Support or lead 'Natural Channel Design' and stream restoration projects, providing enhancement recommendations and design input.
- Conduct detailed field investigations and assessments, including sediment transport and scour analysis.
- Analyze and interpret geomorphic and hydraulic data.
- Prepare technical reports and present findings to clients and stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., geomorphology, river engineering, earth science).
- 4+ years of experience in fluvial geomorphology, with a strong understanding of GIS software and CAD software.
- Knowledge of fluvial form, processes, and functions, including their dependence on local physiography and their influence on ecological habitats.
- Experience with river and stream channel hydraulics and channel stability analysis.
- Experience in environmental data collection, identification, investigation, data entry, and assessments.
- A Master's level degree specializing in fluvial geomorphology would be an asset.
- 6 years of experience in fluvial geomorphology, with a strong understanding of Natural Channel Design approaches.
- Familiarity with GIS and hydraulic model applications in study design and data analysis.
- Geohazard mapping and slope stability analysis.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with proposal writing and/or project management.
