About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Tech Lead - Mainframe Expert to join our team at CB Canada. As a Tech Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of developers in the design, development, and implementation of mainframe-based solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate actively in the analysis, development, and evolution of large-scale software products with significant impacts on the company.
  • Ensure the quality and security of the solutions you code.
  • Lead the team in adopting good practices and processes, and ensure they are adapted to their reality.
  • Oversee multiple teams and ensure they collaborate regularly with other teams, partners, and occasionally with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Make technical decisions, innovate in a complex and strategic context, and take ownership of the results.
  • Coach the team in applying technologies for business solution development and help them progress to improve delivery speed.
  • Identify and prioritize projects that combine business and technology, supporting business strategies.
  • Ensure the analysis and development of software products, design, code, testing, and operation, applying good development, data, and security practices.
  • Define development methods, development patterns, technology choices, and share them across the teams you lead.
  • Work in co-creation with business partners and architects to understand and implement solutions that represent business intentions and objectives.
  • Ensure automation of testing (e.g., test pyramids, TDD, BDD, etc.) and take ownership of quality.
  • Ensure the analysis and resolution of major incidents and lead in resolving highly complex problems.
  • Represent teams to various members of senior management and partners or external organizations.
  • Stay up-to-date with technological trends and development practices, and act as a mentor to development teams on technologies and ways of working.
  • Establish guidelines and document technical solutions and practices to ensure product longevity.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Mainframe (ZOS) - Cobol - CICS - DB IDMS - DB2 - JCL - Easy Trieve.
  • Leadership skills, with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to communicate and explain complex concepts.
  • Ability to influence teams and other individuals on best practices in the industry.
  • Curiosity, ability to question oneself, and willingness to learn new things.
  • Ability to stimulate innovation and continuous learning.
  • Organized, rigorous, and able to manage priorities.
