Senior Risk Control Consultant, Equipment Breakdown Specialist

About the Role
We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Risk Control Consultant to join our team at Intact Financial Corporation. This position will focus on managing Equipment Breakdown risk control, working closely with clients, contractors, insurance brokers, and engineers to identify, evaluate, and quantify various risk factors.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve client services by delivering innovative solutions through field Risk Control services, including EBI site surveys, remote assessments, desktop reviews, and claim investigations.
- Develop and implement industry risk control best practices, ensuring a high-quality service for clients and partners.
- Collaborate with national Risk Control teams to ensure guidelines and service standards are current and well-implemented.
- Provide insurance support via Loss Prevention Reports, outlining recommendations for improvement, and prepare loss expectancies and presentations for insurers as needed.
- Support corporate and regional underwriting, marketing, and claims teams by preparing reports, conducting reviews, and risk control assessments.
- Qualified to perform jurisdictional inspections of boilers and pressure vessels in Ontario.
- Foster a collaborative team culture across groups, units, and teams with Risk Control colleagues and Intact Partners.
- Participate in continuous learning and development activities to improve oneself and share knowledge with colleagues and clients.
- Support management efforts for service improvements and perform other related responsibilities as directed.
Requirements
- Minimum five years of progressive industrial experience in engineering, inspection, power operation, operation, or maintenance of boilers, pressure vessels, and machinery, or EBI insurance.
- Knowledge and experience in Equipment Breakdown risk control.
- Knowledge of ASME Codes and TSSA regulations in boilers and pressure vessels.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment breakdown damage mechanisms.
- Strong analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Client-focused with strong relationship-building skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong learning, adaptation, and coaching skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, agility, and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Continuously inform and educate the Risk Control team and management on the latest industry trends and new technologies.
- Degree in engineering, technical engineering, or related sciences preferred or equivalent experience.
- Prefer to have NB IS commission and TSSA Certificate of Competency for boiler and pressure vessel inspection.
- Experience in review and analysis of third-party Risk Control and Engineering reports, an asset.
- CIP and CRM designation, an asset.
- Professional Engineer designation, a definite asset.
- Fluently bilingual (English/French), an asset.
- Possession of a valid driver's license in good standing.
- No Canadian work experience required, but must be eligible to work in Canada.
