Position Overview

What is the opportunity?

We are seeking a skilled Tableau Developer who is proactive, detail-oriented, and technically adept to become a vital member of our team. This role demands a dedicated individual who is ready to take initiative, deliver exceptional client support, and collaborate effectively within our organization.

In this position, you will engage extensively with both internal and external stakeholders. You should be adept at navigating challenges and devising solutions with a focus on automation where feasible, while working closely with your colleagues. You will be part of the Cyber Reporting team within RBC's Cyber Operations Unit, delivering Reporting Solutions that support RBC's infrastructure and global operations. Continuous skill development and strategic intelligence will be essential to maintain RBC's vulnerability and compliance capabilities in the face of evolving threats.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize Tableau development skills to convert raw data into actionable insights, assisting internal clients in visualizing their data effectively.
  • Conduct data analysis using measurement techniques, develop KPIs, and create reports and dashboards to address business inquiries.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts and stakeholders to comprehend business challenges and formulate user stories and business requirements.
  • Transform business requirements and user stories into functional use cases to generate specialized reports, dashboards, and scorecards.
  • Create and deliver documentation, training, presentations, and support for users across various levels.
  • Ensure the quality and integrity of data in all reporting outputs.
  • Grasp business drivers, definitions, and metrics to interpret findings, take action, and provide relevant guidance.
  • Maintain and enhance the existing suite of Tableau reports.

Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • 5-7 years of experience in developing BI reporting solutions for internal stakeholders.
  • Over 5 years of experience in SQL development.
  • 3-4 years of experience with Tableau Desktop and Server.
  • Proficiency in designing scorecards, KPIs, and dashboards using Tableau from diverse data sources, including large datasets such as Hive, Hadoop, and MS SQL databases.
  • Capability to build, extract, and automate dashboard operations, presenting visualizations and elucidating the significance of various reports.
  • Experience in crafting complex queries for data visualization.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a complex, fast-paced, and dynamic operational environment.
  • Strong communication skills with a proven ability to convey information in both technical and non-technical contexts.
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on improving processes and implementing best practices.
  • Problem-solving skills to analyze and prioritize tasks to meet business objectives securely and effectively.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with scripting and programming languages (Python and Java).
  • Experience with big data processing tools such as Spark and Hive, along with GitHub functionality and workflows.
  • Exposure to Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Public Cloud technologies.
  • Background in big data technologies, particularly in machine learning and statistical functions.
  • Knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, and agile methodologies.
  • Experience with vulnerability management processes and scanning tools.
  • CISSP Certification.
