We are seeking a responsible and patient-oriented individual to join our team in Kamloops, BC as a Laboratory Assistant for our Mobile Lab Services team.

About the Role

Our Mobile Laboratory Assistants play a vital part in on-site patient care in various locations, including private homes, commercial facilities, and long-term care facilities. This is an active and rewarding role that allows you to build relationships with patients and see the difference you make in their lives and healthcare outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Organize daily schedules of visits to facilities and private residences to collect specimens as per physicians' requests.
  • Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
  • Collect and deliver specimens to designated labs for testing, accessing, spinning, separating, and preparing for transport as required.
  • Book patient appointments, request required information from patients, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure patients have followed necessary test protocol prior to specimen collection.
  • Liaise with doctors and facility staff regarding patient problems, changes in scheduling, specimen collection procedures, and other matters.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and access to a vehicle.
  • Satisfactory criminal reference check.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
  • Excellent communication skills to enable you to relate with a wide variety of people.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to think quickly on your feet.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.

This is an in-person role.

Hiring Range: 26.43 - 31.46

The hiring range has been established, however, the final salary recommendation will be determined based off the level of experience, education requirement, external market conditions and internal equity.
