Role Overview:
The Supervisor of Transportation Infrastructure is responsible for overseeing the assessment and management of roadway infrastructure. This includes prioritizing infrastructure needs and administering maintenance and capital programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of Transportation Infrastructure Analysts and students, ensuring that all contractual obligations with engineering consultants are met.
- Conduct detailed inspections of various infrastructure elements, including bridges, roads, and drainage systems.
- Engage in procurement processes for engineering services, negotiating terms and preparing reports for committee review.
- Provide technical guidance to staff on infrastructure improvement projects, including training and documentation.
- Develop comprehensive project plans that encompass budgeting, risk analysis, and performance reporting to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance methodologies for infrastructure assessments and prioritization.
- Oversee the formulation of maintenance and capital improvement programs, identifying key projects for the Transportation Capital Program.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration with various governmental and regulatory bodies regarding infrastructure standards and best practices.
- Participate in departmental committees, providing expertise on project management systems.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Prepare budget estimates and manage infrastructure-specific programs.
- Negotiate consultant agreements and monitor project budgets.
- Coordinate with external agencies to align on project requirements and share relevant information.
- Perform related duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
- A degree or diploma in a relevant field, such as civil engineering, along with substantial experience in project management.
- Eligibility for certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist or as a professional engineer.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, contract law, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient leadership and communication abilities to effectively manage teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Competency in utilizing various software tools for project management and data analysis.
- Willingness to travel as required.
