Your Opportunity:
The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) plays a pivotal role in providing guidance and support to the nursing staff at Alberta Health Services, specifically within the Adult Addiction and Mental Health Services sector. This position is integral to the Acute Adult Psychiatry In-Patient Units and Psychiatric Emergency Services, which are situated within the Emergency Department. The CNE is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, execution, and assessment of educational initiatives for nursing personnel, which encompass orientation, mandatory educational programs, clinical development, and ongoing education.
The CNE operates as a practitioner, consultant, researcher, educator, and leader. This role requires collaboration with key stakeholders, multidisciplinary teams, and management to ensure the delivery of safe and optimal patient care outcomes. Utilizing evidence-based research, the CNE informs their practice and identifies areas for knowledge enhancement. Furthermore, the CNE actively participates in the development and continuous improvement of educational programs and clinical policies and procedures within Alberta Health Services.
Description:
As a Clinical Nurse Educator, you will serve as an expert practitioner and a vital educator, supporting both nursing staff and the multidisciplinary clinical team. Your leadership will be essential in the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs for nursing staff, including orientation, mandatory training, and professional development.
Collaboration with management and internal partners will be key to promoting standards of clinical, educational, and evidence-informed practice. You will be instrumental in delivering safe, high-quality patient and family-centered care while embodying the shared vision and values of Alberta Health Services.
Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:
A Master's Degree in Nursing or an equivalent health-related degree is advantageous. Familiarity with Calgary Zone Addiction and Mental Health Programs, Resources, and Practices is beneficial. Previous experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator and experience within the Psychiatric Emergency Services enhanced model is preferred.
