Job Summary:

WestCana Services is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and providing exceptional service to our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly preventive maintenance on all facilities equipment and systems.
  • Collect and dispose of recycling materials, shredding materials, and trash collection in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Notify management of any need for repairs, cleaning, or snow removal from sidewalks.
  • Review maintenance logs and take corrective action to ensure problems are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor facilities to identify and resolve physical facility or equipment malfunctions in a safe and timely manner.
  • Support the facility Safety Program and monitor safety in the living and working environment, responding to and reporting hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents, and unsafe or faulty equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of secondary school or equivalent.
  • Legally allowed to work in Canada.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints.
  • Valid certification in WHMIS.
  • Satisfactory proof of COVID-19 vaccinations.
  • Passes and complies with Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Building Service Worker Certificate and/or Institutional Aide Certificate.
  • Institutional cleaning experience.
  • Certificate from a program in general maintenance or extensive experience as a maintenance worker with supervisory skills.
  • Previous experience in a Long-Term Care facility.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position working Sunday to Thursday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, with 37.5 hours per week. The hourly wage is $39.43.
