Clinical PET/CT Technologist, Molecular Imaging and Therapy
Join our dedicated team at PHSA, where we focus on providing exceptional patient care through advanced imaging technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute comprehensive clinical PET/CT imaging procedures, including the selection of suitable imaging protocols, patient positioning, image acquisition, and data reconstruction, ultimately presenting the final images to the interpreting physician.
- Prepare patients for scanning by thoroughly explaining the procedure, addressing any questions, and ensuring informed consent is obtained prior to the examination.
- Conduct technical tasks such as correlating clinical histories with the necessary examinations, recording baseline vital signs, establishing venous access for radiotracer administration, and monitoring blood glucose levels before injection.
- Ensure patient safety throughout procedures by monitoring vital signs and observing for any signs of distress, responding to emergencies as per established protocols, and performing CPR if necessary.
- Operate PET and CT imaging equipment in compliance with established operational standards and protocols.
Qualifications:
- Certification from the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Nuclear Medicine.
- A minimum of three years of recent experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Completion of a formal PET/CT education program, such as the CAMRT PET/CT certificate program or equivalent training and experience.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficient in nuclear medicine procedures, radiopharmacy practices, and radiation safety protocols.
- Familiarity with PET/CT imaging systems and associated software applications.
- Understanding of research methodologies and processes.
- Strong patient care abilities across diverse age groups.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of relevant clinical information systems and equipment.
- Commitment to understanding and implementing the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and related initiatives.
- Awareness of the socio-economic and historical contexts affecting Indigenous communities, alongside familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism principles.
