Job Summary:

The Assistant Store Manager is a key member of the store leadership team, responsible for the supervision of salesfloor associates and store processes. This role ensures the store team delivers a high-quality member experience, follows up on store recovery, and has ownership of opening and closing responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise salesfloor associates and store processes to ensure a high-quality member experience.
  • Follow up on store recovery and have ownership of opening and closing responsibilities.
  • Work with all associates to support the Store General Manager in implementing corporate merchandising directives, operational processes, and human resources initiatives.
  • Manage store associates and their performance to achieve financial objectives and execute store operations.
  • Assist the Store General Manager in creating and achieving the store profit plan by identifying opportunities to drive additional sales while improving margin and expense control.
  • Execute store operations, establish daily and weekly priorities, and manage store productivity.
  • Provide direction and discipline to ensure effective execution of corporate merchandising and sales programs.
  • Assist associates with member programs, such as protection agreements, credit card applications, and Shop Your Way Rewards.
  • Give guidance and training to associates on displaying merchandise, applying selling skills, and improving service standards.
  • Create a work environment that fosters open communication, encourages feedback from the store team, and reacts to suggestions in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Provide the Store General Manager with fact-based, real-time feedback on opportunities and solutions that support the business.
  • Cultivate a high-performing team through ongoing performance management and partner with the Store General Manager and store leadership team to identify and develop high-potential internal leaders.
  • Follow MPS guidelines and train associates to minimize waste by following MC&C guidelines and demonstrate good use of MPS standards.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Driver's license required.
  • Extensive knowledge of store merchandising and retail management practices and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills to receive, disseminate, and follow up on corporate information.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor team members, lead and influence cross-functional working groups, and achieve results.
  • Microsoft Office computer skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work during critical retail time frames, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or other event-related times.
  • Minimum of two years of retail experience or equivalent.
