Disability Management Specialist – Occupational Health and Wellness
Temporary Full Time Position
Reporting to the Director of Occupational Health and Wellness, the incumbent will oversee the successful implementation of established occupational health initiatives, protocols, and services. This role involves identifying early and safe return-to-work opportunities for employees who have been injured or are ill, as well as developing and facilitating tailored return-to-work or modified work plans. The specialist will manage both Non-Occupational Health files and WSIB files, which includes effective communication with WSIB Case Managers and Adjudicators, as well as other related functions as part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team. A proactive case management approach is essential, providing support to all workplace parties involved in the recovery and return-to-work process while addressing the needs of both workers and employers. The Disability Management Specialist will also work in partnership to enhance safety and promote the proactive prevention of workplace incidents for all staff.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in health sciences or a related field (such as Nursing, Kinesiology, or Physiotherapy).
Additional Skills and Experience
- A minimum of three years of demonstrated experience in Disability Claim Management, ideally within a unionized healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in computer applications within a Windows environment, including intermediate skills in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong multitasking abilities and adaptability to shifting priorities.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict resolution capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven track record of reliable attendance.
- Understanding and compliance with patient and staff safety policies that foster a secure and inclusive environment.
- Ability to perform essential job duties effectively.
- Empathetic interactions with others, demonstrating behaviors consistent with Mackenzie Health's Commitment to Caring.

Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Disability Management.
- Familiarity with Parklane software.
