Position Title: Senior Technology Specialist, Core Systems Developer
Reports To: Technology Manager
Department: Individual IT
Term: Permanent Full-Time
Work Arrangements: This position operates in a hybrid model. You will be required to work in our office a minimum of two (2) consecutive days every other week, along with an additional fifth (5th) assigned day each month. You are encouraged to utilize the office more frequently than the minimum requirement, and some roles may necessitate more in-office presence.
The Opportunity: Equitable is expanding its horizons. We are seeking a Senior Technology Specialist, Core Systems Developer to become a vital part of our Individual IT team. This role will contribute to a larger group focused on developing and maintaining application solutions for our Individual Insurance sectors. Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, documenting, testing, and implementing modifications to our core systems while collaborating closely with business and technology colleagues in an agile manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, program, and test high-performance, scalable applications and database solutions.
- Collaborate with product owners, business partners, and platform experts to create functional applications that align with our business objectives.
- Analyze and resolve production issues with minimal supervision.
- Advise on the adoption of new technologies when appropriate.
Qualifications:
- A robust technical foundation with a minimum of 7 years of experience in:
- Cobol (experience with Micro Focus Cobol is advantageous)
- Microsoft SQL Server and Transact SQL
- Ingenium (3 to 5 years)
- A highly motivated team player who excels as an individual contributor.
- A strong focus on achieving results through regular releases of maintainable software.
- A commitment to enhancing delivery and release practices to ensure quality software and minimize release cycle times.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information, concepts, and ideas.
- A degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related discipline.
