Position Overview: The Quality Assurance Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and quality of food products at JD Sweid Foods. Reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Supervisor, this position is integral to the implementation of food safety protocols and quality management systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quality assurance activities within a meat processing environment, focusing on beef, poultry, and pork.
  • Execute process control tasks, including pre-operational checks, in-process evaluations, and final product assessments according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Maintain and calibrate essential testing equipment, such as metal detectors and fat analyzers.
  • Monitor compliance with process control standards and collaborate with plant operations to ensure adherence.
  • Assist in troubleshooting operational issues to restore processes to compliant status.
  • Inspect raw materials and ingredients to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Prepare and present monthly summary reports to stakeholders.
  • Communicate critical information effectively to all team members and stakeholders.
  • Engage in training programs related to food safety, HACCP procedures, and product quality requirements.
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee initiatives and adhere to established health and safety policies.
  • Must be able to taste and evaluate meat products for quality assurance purposes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in food manufacturing quality assurance.
  • Previous experience in a food-related environment is preferred.
  • Understanding of operational processes, HACCP, and quality assurance systems.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and other relevant software.
  • Able to work in a wet and cold environment.
