Technical Leadership Responsibilities
- Shape the mid and long-term vision for Knowledge Domains (KD)
- Contribute to KD strategy and objectives, serving as a key Subject Matter Expert (SME) during reviews
- Identify and address skills gaps within KD
- Act as a key SME in KD initiatives
- Influence industry standards as an active member or chair of airworthiness committees
- Educate peers on technical decision-making processes
- Recommend promotions from Engineering Specialist (ES) to Senior Engineering Specialist (SES)
- Propose guidance for implementing and certifying technical innovations
- Advocate for cost-effective engineering solutions across Knowledge Domains
- Build a network of industry contacts
- Lead and coordinate resolution of certification-related issues with regulators
- Participate in internal audits and provide technical guidance for findings
- Support the rulemaking process
- Gather and analyze Lessons Learned for community cross-programs
- Lead solution development for complex certification challenges
- Address systemic issues impacting airworthiness and customer satisfaction
Technical Competency Expectations
- Oversee technical processes and ensure compliance
- Validate that technical processes and Knowledge Standards align with best practices
- Enforce adherence to Best Engineering Standards (BES) to maintain product integrity
- Support problem-solving across product lines within the Knowledge Domain
- Collect and validate Lessons Learned to support Knowledge Owners
- Mentor engineers within their technical discipline
- Recommend development actions for SESs as part of the Professional Development Plan (PDP)
- Guide successors in their professional growth
- Research industry developments to stay informed on emerging regulations
- Conduct business cases and statements of work for technical and aircraft studies
- Lead strategic technical discussions regarding certification
- Share insights on industry and regulatory developments with Knowledge Domains
- Provide guidance for Intellectual Property (IP), Configuration Management (CM), and other technical areas
- Support the development of Management of Change (MoC) for new regulatory interpretations
- Participate in peer review activities
- Prepare company inputs for Notices of Proposed Amendments (NPA)
- Offer technical guidance to various departments
- Collaborate with the Safety team to ensure aircraft safety, reliability, and security
- Facilitate multi-disciplinary alignment for urgent issues as necessary
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering; a PhD in a relevant field is a plus
- Over 15 years of relevant experience in aerospace engineering
- Experience with at least two development programs
- Expertise in one or more specialized areas
- Highly regarded with an international reputation
- Advanced knowledge in a specific field and broad understanding of various aircraft systems
- Ability to act as a regulatory authority delegate in their area of expertise
