EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

We are seeking a dynamic and relationship-oriented fundraising leader to serve as the Chief Philanthropy Officer. This role is pivotal in driving the fundraising strategy and enhancing the organization's capacity to fulfill its mission.

The Chief Philanthropy Officer will provide strategic direction and collaborative leadership for the fundraising initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals to support individuals impacted by neglected tropical diseases.

In this capacity, the Chief Philanthropy Officer will oversee the comprehensive fundraising strategy, proactively plan, and execute initiatives that ensure the organization’s growth and sustainability. Reporting directly to the CEO, this leader will be an integral part of the executive team, playing a vital role in cultivating a values-driven culture and achieving financial objectives.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Our organization is a Canadian Christian global health entity with over 130 years of experience in addressing the needs of individuals affected by neglected tropical diseases across various regions. Currently, over 1.6 billion people worldwide are impacted by these diseases.

We collaborate with a diverse range of partners, including global health organizations, local governments, and community leaders, to implement programs that enhance healthcare systems and improve access to essential resources for underserved populations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven executive leadership experience, with a readiness to engage in strategic organizational planning.
  • A minimum of 10 years in fundraising, demonstrating success in securing major gifts.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required; a CFRE designation is preferred.
  • Experience in faith-based or international development organizations is advantageous.
  • Strong alignment with the organization's mission and the ability to communicate effectively across diverse faith traditions.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising for large nonprofits through various donor channels.
  • Experience in planning and managing development projects and fundraising programs.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to building donor relationships.
  • Skilled in crafting compelling fundraising communications.
  • Experience in grant writing, proposals, and donor reporting.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a high degree of self-awareness.
  • A global perspective on philanthropy.
  • An existing network of potential donors is a plus.
  • Proficient in Raisers' Edge NXT or similar fundraising software.
  • Leadership skills grounded in self-awareness and the ability to motivate teams.
  • Relational skills to build networks and gain insights for organizational priorities.
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and adaptability to lead change.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills to navigate complexities in fundraising.
  • Understanding of the evolving philanthropic landscape in Canada.
