About the Role

At Sierra Space, we are pushing the boundaries of what is possible in space technology. We are seeking a talented Simulation Software Engineer to join our innovative team and contribute to the development and testing of software simulations for various aerospace applications.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in aerospace software engineering and work alongside experienced professionals on cutting-edge projects. Our interns have the unique experience of getting both mentoring and coaching while working side by side with recognized industry experts on real-world assignments directly related to their field of study.

As a Simulation Software Engineer, you will assist in the design, development, and testing of simulation software for aerospace applications, collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and develop simulation solutions that meet project goals, conduct software testing and debugging to ensure optimal performance and reliability of simulation tools, and compile and analyze simulation data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test simulation software for aerospace applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and develop simulation solutions
  • Conduct software testing and debugging to ensure optimal performance and reliability of simulation tools
  • Compile and analyze simulation data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to the engineering team
  • Support the integration of simulation software with various hardware and software platforms
  • Document development processes, technical specifications, and user guides for simulation software
  • Participate in code and design reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Must have at least one academic term remaining after the completion of the internship
  • Students must be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior undergraduate student or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. Program
  • Strong skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Strong organization skills and work ethic; detail oriented

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in engineering or a related discipline
  • Proficient in C++ and Python
  • Experience working in embedded software and/or Arduino
  • Experience with hardware/software integration
  • Design team experience
  • Exposure to requirements and verification processes

Compensation:

Engineering Intern Sophomore: $28.00/hour

Engineering Intern Junior/Senior: $30.00/hour

Engineering Intern BA/MS Dual Program or 5 yr BA/MS Program: $31.00

Engineering Intern Master's: $35.00/hour

Engineering Intern PhD: $42.00/hour
