Baycrest Hospital is seeking a qualified individual for the role of Clinical Educator within the Interprofessional Practice Department. This position is temporary and full-time, with a focus on days and evenings, including some weekends.
Position Overview:
In this role, the Clinical Educator will report to the Manager and Chief Nursing Officer, collaborating closely with clinical managers and Advanced Practice Leaders to uphold and enhance standardized clinical best practices. The educator will engage with interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and sustain exemplary nursing practices and patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designs comprehensive and tailored educational programs that align with nursing standards and expectations.
- Facilitates the orientation and onboarding process for new staff and students, employing a coaching and mentoring approach.
- Evaluates the educational needs of nursing personnel and creates resources and programs to address these needs effectively.
- Establishes clinical education plans that encompass annual assessments, certifications, and essential learning based on competency requirements.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to plan, develop, and assess educational initiatives, including policy and procedure training.
- Participates in committees and working groups to support clinical education and share updates on ongoing educational activities.
- Monitors and reports on attendance and progress related to educational programs and initiatives.
- Builds relationships with internal and external partners to exchange resources and expertise in educational methodologies.
- Contributes to the implementation of evidence-based best practices and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing is mandatory.
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is essential.
- A Master's degree in Nursing is preferred.
- 3-5 years of recent experience in geriatric care is advantageous.
- Experience in adult education and curriculum development is required.
- Exceptional communication and facilitation skills are necessary.
- Proven ability to teach, coach, and mentor diverse groups.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across various levels.
- Competence in managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications is required.
