Position Overview:

As a Quality Assurance Technician at JD Sweid Foods, you will report directly to the Quality Assurance Supervisor. Your primary responsibility will be to implement and uphold food safety and quality assurance protocols, ensuring the production of safe and high-quality food products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quality assurance activities within a meat processing environment, focusing on beef, poultry, and pork.
  • Execute process control tasks, including pre-operational checks, in-process evaluations, and final product assessments according to standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain and calibrate essential testing instruments, such as metal detectors and fat analyzers.
  • Monitor adherence to process control standards and collaborate with plant operations to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in troubleshooting process issues and restoring operations to compliant status.
  • Inspect raw materials and ingredients to verify compliance with quality standards.
  • Compile and prepare monthly summary reports on quality metrics.
  • Communicate critical information effectively to all stakeholders and QA team members.
  • Engage in training sessions related to food safety, HACCP protocols, and product quality standards.
  • Contribute to the overall health and safety of yourself and your colleagues.
  • Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee initiatives and adhere to established health and safety policies.
  • Be prepared to taste and evaluate meat products for quality assurance purposes.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in food manufacturing quality assurance.
  • Experience in a food-related environment is preferred.
  • Understanding of operational, HACCP, and quality assurance systems.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and other relevant software.
  • Able to work in a wet and cold environment.
