Job Title: Timber Cruiser Mentor

Job Summary: As a Timber Cruiser Mentor, you will play a key role in guiding a compass-person and preparing data for cruise compilation, identifying and maximizing timber harvest opportunities in the Northern Interior backcountry of BC.

This is a full-time field position with limited office work, requiring a 10 on 4 off rotation in remote locations. Accommodations vary shift to shift, typically a tent bush camp or logging camps. Per diems are paid when food is not provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expert knowledge of the BC Timber Cruising Manual and Forest Measurement Practices
  • Delegate day-to-day work and applicable training for compass-person (cruising assistant)
  • Maintain field quality and best practices
  • Effective use of CruiseMate and navigation of forest service roads and off-highway driving
  • Administrative support with day-to-day production and payroll tracking
  • Knowledge of compilation programs, such as CompMate, is an asset
  • Support and act in accordance with Wright Canada Holdings Ltd's culture of safety and employee ownership
  • Comply with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follow all company policies and procedures
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings
  • Position requires travel and may involve emergency or natural disaster response

Requirements:

  • 1 year experience in Timber Cruising
  • Ability and desire to collect high-quality, accurate data
  • High level of efficiency with all tools used in Timber Cruising
  • ATV and Resource Road Driving experience
  • Ability to lead and direct crews
  • Safety-conscious attitude
  • Ability to be efficient, safe, and timely in the field
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment
  • Experience remote camping is considered an asset
  • Chainsaw experience is considered an asset
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and interact with employees, clients, and vendors
