At The Coalition Studio, renowned for our work on the acclaimed Gears of War franchise, we are actively tackling these issues by spearheading engine innovation, developing cutting-edge technologies, and delivering top-tier workflows, tools, and features embraced across the broader Xbox Game Studios organization.

As a Senior Systems Engineer at The Coalition, you will play a pivotal role within a distinguished Engine and Game Development team. Your expertise in C++, experience with Unreal Engine (UE4), and familiarity with Perforce will be invaluable. A passion for problem-solving and a broad knowledge base across various domains such as Rendering, Systems, Audio, Gameplay, and Animation are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline AND a minimum of 4 years of software development experience for modern console or PC games utilizing C++ or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in developing and optimizing multithreaded systems.
  • Proficiency with the Unreal Engine.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all disciplines within a game studio.
  • Experience in integrating and supporting third-party game technology SDKs.
  • Proficiency in Python or other widely-used high-level scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with C#/.Net.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate new versions of third-party software into our existing development branch.
  • Collaborate with fellow Engineers to create, modify, adapt, or refactor systems as necessary.
  • Stay informed about upcoming changes and consult with other engineers regarding these developments.
  • Proactively work to minimize the need for engine modifications by collaborating with third-party partners to integrate our changes into the standard engine.
  • Collaborate with the infrastructure team to enhance team efficiency.
  • Conduct profiling and optimization in areas such as low-level performance, streaming, and memory management.
