Job Summary

The Vacuum Truck Operator will work with the Environmental Services team to provide exceptional service to our clients. Services provided include (but are not limited to): spill cleanup, line flushing, power washing, water hauling, and loading and hauling of various fluids/material. The chosen individual will perform this diverse range of activities with a focus on safety, professionalism, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate vacuum equipment in an industrial setting, adhering to company policies and procedures as well as various on-site requirements.

  • Provide exceptional service to all clients and professionally represent GFL Environmental, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

  • Complete daily equipment pre-trips and driver logs required for regulatory compliance, maintaining accurate and detailed records.

  • Maintain detailed and accurate company documentation to accompany work performed, ensuring seamless communication with clients and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to environmental compliance, adhering to industry standards and regulations.

  • Participate in safety programs such as safety meetings, near miss reporting, and job hazard assessments, promoting a culture of safety within the team.

  • Work independently while managing time and productivity, communicating effectively with colleagues and clients to ensure seamless project execution.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 months of Industrial Vacuum Truck experience; Combo Vac experience is an asset but not required.

  • Class 1 Driver's License with Air Brakes and a clean Commercial Drivers Abstract.

  • Must be able to operate manual transmission.

  • Valid safety tickets such as First Aid/CPR, Construction Safety Training (CSTS), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), and H2S Alive are considered an asset.

  • Safety-focused attitude with experience working in an industrial setting, with a strong commitment to environmental compliance.

  • Knowledge to perform minor maintenance on units to maintain efficient operation, with a focus on preventive maintenance.

  • Possesses cleanliness and organizational skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned, with the ability to lift and move equipment as required.

  • Willing to accept after-hour calls when necessary, with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.

  • Some short-term travel and overnight stay as required, with the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
