**Job Summary**

Under the direction of the Environmental Services Manager, the Housekeeping Aide maintains assigned areas in a clean, sanitary, safe and orderly manner to ensure that the highest degree of cleanliness. The incumbent also performs routine housekeeping tasks in all areas of the facility with the primary duties being general cleaning.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces.
  • Restock supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Operate cleaning equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and floor buffers.
  • Participate in deep cleaning projects, such as cleaning carpets and upholstered furniture.
  • Assist with special events and projects, such as cleaning up after a spill or cleaning a room after a patient has been discharged.

**Requirements**

  • Proficiency in both official languages (English/French) is essential.
  • Completed Grade 10 Education (Manitoba Standard) is required.
  • Other combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Previous experience in industrial and/or commercial Housekeeping is an asset.
  • Demonstrated verbal comprehension and written command of the English language is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle chemicals and cleaning supplies as per Manufacturer's directions and facility procedures is essential.
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with others is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve within the responsibilities of the position is essential.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in adjusting to a changing environment is required.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures is essential.
  • Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality, including paper, electronic formats and other mediums is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job is required.
