Position Overview

  • Become a part of a leading organization in wind power solutions, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, as a Traveling Troubleshooting Technician.
  • This role involves executing and documenting various troubleshooting activities, conducting turbine assessments, and performing component repairs.
  • The technician will provide troubleshooting assistance for all components related to wind turbines.
  • Expect to travel extensively, with approximately 95% of your time spent on-site.
  • The Traveling Troubleshooting Technician will regularly interact with clients and collaborate with small teams.
  • Candidates should demonstrate the ability to lead and manage tasks independently.
  • Work locations primarily include Canada, with potential opportunities in the U.S.
  • Responsibilities include executing predefined technical tasks, such as basic engineering and maintenance work on-site.
  • Coordinate and carry out defined service operations while addressing product issues for customer equipment.
  • Follow established processes and comply with relevant regulations.
  • Please note that relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and analyze electrical schematics.
  • Understand and follow operational procedures.
  • Travel to various locations in the U.S. and Canada without restrictions.
  • Conduct inspections of drivetrain components, including main shafts, bearings, gearboxes, and gears.
  • Work comfortably in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Assist in diagnosing drivetrain-related issues, including pumps, sensors, brakes, and cooling units.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills to articulate complex damages, contribute to inspection and repair reports, and ensure follow-up until resolution.
  • Utilize maintenance and electrical testing equipment for turbines.
  • Test electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems and perform maintenance on wind turbine equipment, addressing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Technicians must adhere to maximum safety guidelines and utilize personal protective equipment.
  • Candidates must meet a body weight limit of 265 pounds as per safety regulations.
  • A physical examination by a medical professional is required to confirm the ability to perform job functions safely.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a mechanical, electrical, or industrial field is necessary.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including word processing, spreadsheets, and diagnostic tools, is required.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, up to 95% of the time.
  • Candidates should demonstrate safe, team-oriented work habits.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment background drug screening.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada without requiring employer-sponsored work authorization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Senvion, SGRE Direct Drive (D3), and SG4X 145 is advantageous.
  • Certification from a Renewable Energy or Wind Technical Program is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience as a Wind Technician on a Wind Farm is beneficial.
  • Relevant experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, maintenance, or troubleshooting roles within military, industrial, or automotive sectors is a plus.
