About the Role:

The Unit Clerk plays a vital role in the patient care unit, serving as a receptionist and clerk. This position is a coordinator and central source of information and record keeping relating to the activities, communication, and services for patients on the nursing unit. The Unit Clerk acts as a liaison between members of the inter-disciplinary team as well as other hospital and non-hospital staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transcribing physicians' orders in accordance with Hospitals' policies and procedures
  • Assembling and maintaining patient charts
  • Key reception duties, including greeting and directing visitors, patients, and health professionals
  • Maintaining patient records and charts
  • Transcribing and processing physician orders
  • Scheduling patient tests and/or treatments
  • Performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in computer skills
  • Connect Care trained
  • iRequest, etc.
