Position Overview

Velocity Truck Centre Canada, previously known as First Truck Centre, is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic / Commercial Truck and Trailer Technician in Fort St. John, BC. This role entails evaluating, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a diverse range of commercial transport vehicles, including trucks, trailers, buses, and other heavy machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues in commercial trucks, including engines, transmissions, and braking systems, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Execute repairs and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of commercial trucks, including engine overhauls, brake adjustments, and suspension repairs.
  • Replace defective components with genuine or compatible parts to uphold the functionality and performance of commercial trucks.
  • Maintain precise documentation of maintenance activities, repairs conducted, and parts utilized to comply with regulatory standards and facilitate efficient workflow.
  • Collaborate with team members to prioritize tasks, share expertise, and deliver exceptional customer service to fleet managers, drivers, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman Certificate with Red Seal.
  • 3rd or 4th Year apprentice technician will be considered.
  • BC Class 5 driver's license (Class 3 with air brakes or Class 1 is considered an asset).
  • Must possess own tools (required tool list will be provided).
  • Mechanically inclined with a strong aptitude for diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, and process-driven environment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and using tools throughout the shift.
  • Familiarity with computerized scanning equipment and mechanical software.
  • Certifications (Detroit, Chassis, Cummins, Allison, CVIP license) are considered assets.
