Position Overview

The Procurement Lead for Canada will oversee initiatives to secure capacity at competitive pricing to facilitate profitable expansion in the Canadian market.

This role will entail crafting a category strategy aimed at achieving cost leadership and superior service levels through collaboration with fellow Procurement managers (Category Leads) as well as Product (Solutions Design/Pricing) and Delivery (Operations).

This impactful position will serve as a change agent and a catalyst for growth. Establishing a robust operating system to enhance internal collaboration and developing a strong Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program for Canada will be vital for success.

This role will encompass First Mile, Ground Freight, and Last Mile Trucking operations in Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extensive experience in LTL/Drayage within the Canadian market
  • Coordinate procurement activities with category managers (Truck, Rail, etc.)
  • Assist Product teams in formulating competitive supply chain solutions in Canada
  • Establish and maintain a category strategy for Canada to enable substantial, profitable growth
  • Develop a Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program to ensure access to capacity at optimal market rates
  • Provide spend visibility and market insights to drive procurement strategies and market approaches
  • Facilitate Request for Quotation (RFQ) processes in collaboration with other category managers and the Strategic Sourcing team
  • Create sophisticated Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models to benchmark solutions and suppliers across various transport modes
  • Foster strategic supplier relationships and loyalty
  • Collaborate with Delivery (Operations) and Maersk Brokerage to ensure service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Engage in additional projects as directed by senior leadership.

Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree with advanced studies preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation or supply chain management
  • Previous experience in procurement or vendor management is advantageous
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Capability to collaborate and drive business outcomes within a matrix organization
  • Strategic mindset with data proficiency
  • Customer-centric approach.
