Our extensive portfolio encompasses software solutions for airport resource management, crew scheduling, flight planning, in-flight provisioning, tactical scheduling, and disruption management.

The Senior Operations Research Engineer plays a pivotal role in the analytical methodologies employed for problem-solving and decision-making across various CAE Flight Services offerings. This position involves engagement throughout all stages of the product lifecycle, including sales demonstrations, algorithm development, engine deployment, production support, and after-sales assistance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing intricate solutions within hosted environments.
  • Collaborating with clients and internal teams to comprehend the intricacies and requirements of airline operations while proposing innovative solutions to identify areas for enhancement.
  • Participating in peer evaluations of solution designs, identifying opportunities for improvement, and documenting the rationale for sharing with team members and stakeholders.
  • Supporting marketing and sales initiatives essential for the success of CAE Flight Services' solutions and services, which may involve promoting and demonstrating offerings to stakeholders.
  • Representing CAE Flight Services and the Operations Research team positively and professionally at all times.
  • Upholding high standards of software quality within the team by establishing and exemplifying best practices and habits.

Our ideal candidate possesses:

  • A Master's degree (or higher) in Operations Research, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in optimization solutions.
  • Extensive expertise in developing solutions based on mathematical programming models to guide development and implementation throughout the solution lifecycle.
  • Strong proficiency in mathematical programming models such as LP/IP, network flow, graph theory, column generation, branch and bound, and large-scale optimization, as well as statistical and/or machine learning models for real-world optimization or predictive modeling challenges.
  • Solid knowledge of C++ (11+, STL), object-oriented programming/design principles, and design patterns (Gang of Four).
  • A commitment to remaining technically proficient and an expert in mathematical programming models and related Operations Research domains.
  • Significant experience in enterprise software development and maintenance.
  • Experience in designing and developing client applications for Windows or Linux, as well as integrations and APIs.
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities for enhancing solutions, systems, and processes.
  • Strong communication skills (English) with both internal team members and external stakeholders, along with the ability to build robust relationships and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in managing teams and the ability to lead and influence others.
  • The capability to work independently with minimal supervision.

In addition to the following skills:

  • Familiarity with database schema and SQL statements.
  • Experience and skills in Machine Learning and data analytics.
  • Working knowledge of C# and Python.
  • Practical experience with MIP/LP solvers (Cplex/Gurobi/OR-Tools/Coin-OR).
  • Strong facilitation and training abilities.
