The Municipal Group of Companies is a prominent entity in the heavy civil construction sector, actively involved in various facets of construction across the Atlantic Provinces. We are currently on the lookout for skilled Traffic Control Personnel to manage traffic flow in the HRM and Annapolis Valley regions.
Position Overview
The Traffic Control Person (TCP) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of both workers and motorists at temporary work sites. This position entails the use of a Stop/Slow paddle to manage vehicular movement effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct traffic safely and efficiently through temporary work zones;
- Maintain clear communication with fellow TCPs to ensure smooth traffic regulation;
- Prioritize public traffic over construction-related vehicles;
- Report any unsafe traffic conditions or behaviors;
- Assist pedestrians in navigating through work areas;
- Remain vigilant and aware of the surroundings at all times;
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and maintain a secure work environment;
- Act in the best interest of the company in all operational matters;
- Ensure the safety of co-workers;
- Perform additional tasks as assigned;
Qualifications and Skills:
- Possession of a valid Traffic Control Person certification or willingness to obtain one;
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends;
- Dependability and punctuality are essential;
- Openness to learning construction site regulations and protocols;
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team;
- Capability to operate necessary equipment safely;
- Adherence to all safety policies and procedures;
- Effective communication skills with colleagues and supervisors;
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and professional work environment;
- Reliable transportation to job sites is required;
