Job OverviewJoin Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as an MRI Technologist. We are seeking a dedicated MRI Technologist to become part of our Medical Imaging Computed Tomography team. This role is essential in providing high-quality imaging services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT) examinations in line with departmental protocols while ensuring adherence to safe radiation protection standards.
- Manage requisitions, input pertinent data into the radiology information system, and prepare examination trays and patients for specific imaging procedures.
- Operate advanced imaging equipment, including the processing and archiving of acquired data, while monitoring patients and equipment performance throughout procedures.
This position aligns with VCH's commitment to Indigenous Cultural Safety, Anti-Racism, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Planetary Health.
QualificationsEducation & Experience:
- Certification with CAMRT in Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Computed Tomography, along with completion of an accredited advanced specialty program.
- Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course and a minimum of two years of recent experience in MRI and CT procedures.
- Certification or eligibility for certification in Delegated Medical Activity (DMA) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Thorough understanding of the standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging professionals as established by CAMRT and other relevant associations.
- In-depth knowledge of evidence-based practices related to MRI and CT modalities.
- Familiarity with organizational policies, procedures, and standards of care, including safe work practices with imaging equipment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current MRI and CT theories and practices within a patient-centered care model.
- General understanding of Trauma Informed Practice and Harm Reduction approaches.
- Ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety and provide culturally competent care across diverse populations.
- Proficient in PACS/Radiology Information Systems, including digital imaging and data management.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, prioritizing workload effectively.
- Demonstrated skill in MRI and CT techniques and related equipment operation.
The work schedule, including days off and work area, may be adjusted based on operational needs. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check. As per current Public Health Orders, all employees of Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have received the most recent updated vaccine. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
