Job Summary

POWER Engineers is seeking a talented engineering student for a summer 2025 internship in our Vancouver, WA office. As a Field Services Intern, you will be involved in the inspection, testing, and troubleshooting of moderately complex electrical systems and associated apparatus.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the guidance of an experienced Field Services Engineer or Technician to gain hands-on experience in electrical systems and apparatus.
  • Learn to operate various test instruments and gain experience in the operation and coordination of electrical systems.
  • Participate in sessions designed to develop your skills and provide networking opportunities, including professional development sessions and an Early Talent Speaker Series.

Requirements

  • Ready to learn Testing and Commissioning utilizing skills based in electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems, relays, programming logic controllers (PLC), three-phase power, and/or project environment skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and night work. Must be available for out-of-town travel.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successful completion of junior-level courses in power system analysis and/or power system protection is preferred.
  • Prior electrical or construction internship experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and various industry standards, such as OSHA and NFPA is a plus.
  • Students who have passed or are scheduled to take the FE/EIT exam will be strongly considered for this position.
