Logistics Associate

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Logistics Associate to join our team at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. As a Logistics Associate, you will be responsible for coordinating the receipt, storage, and distribution of goods and materials across our campuses.
Key Responsibilities- Unload trucks and use logistics equipment to unload heavier deliveries
- Review documentation and incoming material to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Verify goods are as ordered, in acceptable condition, and meet safety guidelines
- Communicate with vendors and the Purchasing department regarding order errors or discrepancies
- Assign asset/tracking numbers on equipment and update inventory records
- Maintain files and update the Institute's ERP system with receipt and delivery information
- Deliver and collect material and goods, coordinating with clients on schedules and locations
- Receive, sort, and distribute internal and external mail
- Prepare goods for shipment, including packaging and labeling
- Utilize courier software to arrange for pick-up and determine the best courier or freight operator
- Advises clients on shipping options and costs, and communicates updates on goods awaiting shipment
- Issue and dispense goods from warehousing locations, following safety procedures
- Support the disposal of waste chemicals and bio-hazardous/infectious waste
- Handle and distribute heavy material, equipment, and supplies, ensuring safe and efficient handling
- Operate the Institute's trucks and vans, adhering to safe driving practices
- Assist Facilities and Campus Development with lifts and moves, including setting up and taking down offices and classrooms
- Ensure the cleanliness of vehicles and report maintenance requirements
- Perform general preventative maintenance on gas and battery-powered mobile equipment
- Maintain the warehouse in a clean and safe condition
- Respond to customer needs and ensure Institute standards of quality and service are maintained
- Receive bookstore goods, add price labels, and enter inventory, costs, and selling prices into the Point-of-sale software
- Participate in Records Custodian training and remain current with record-keeping practices, policies, and procedures
- Grade 12 plus additional training in logistics operations/warehousing management post-secondary education
- Valid BC Drivers' License with a 12-month clean drivers abstract
- Class 1, 4, and 5 Forklift Practical Evaluation for up to 5500lb capacity
- WHMIS certification
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Propane filling certificates
- Health and Safety training
- Mobile Equipment Operator Certificate
- Fall Prevention Certificate
- Confined Space Certificate
- Scissor lift Certificate
- Two years' general experience plus 2 years' experience in a similar position
- Familiarity with automated inventory systems
- Knowledge of and experience navigating the Greater Vancouver and Lower Mainland area
- Safety and first aid knowledge
- Microsoft Office, Internet, and email skills
- Ability to navigate inventory and material tracking systems
