Job Description

West Power Energy is a leading engineering consulting firm specializing in power generation, transmission, and distribution.

We are seeking a highly skilled Transmission Line Engineer to support our growing Transmission & Distribution practice in a hybrid role, working some days in office and some days from home.

The successful candidate will be involved in all facets of transmission line routing and design, including:

  • Transmission Line Design: Perform, lead, and oversee all engineering responsibilities related to overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, structure analysis and loading trees, developing design criteria, sag-tension calculations, wire blowout, swing angle, damper recommendations, structure spotting, clearance reports, wire selection, etc.
  • Project Management: Prepare specifications for construction, hardware, and material for high voltage overhead transmission lines; structure design and development; hardware design and selection; and field installation supervision.
  • Design and Development: Prepare construction drawings and cost estimates for high voltage overhead transmission lines.
  • Team Collaboration: Provide input and adhere to project schedules and budgets; provide instruction and guidance to less experienced staff members.
  • Leadership Opportunities: This position may develop into a leadership role, leading teams of engineers and serving as a primary interface with clients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Professional Engineer licensure
  • Minimum five (5) years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work in a team environment and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook)
  • Previous consulting experience
  • Ability to travel
  • Experience in 69kV to 500kV line design and working knowledge and/or expertise in Power Line system based programs (i.e., PLS, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, etc.)

Base salary range approximation: $51-56 per hour, depending on numerous factors such as applicable experience, skills, knowledge, credentials, geographical location, etc.
