Role Objective

Oversee the People & Culture division for CanaDream's operations in both the United States and Canada.

Reporting Structure

Reports to: Chief People & Capability Officer

Direct Reports: 4-6 team members

Location: Calgary, Alberta with travel requirements to various locations.

Key Collaborations

Engage with Canadian and US leadership teams, branch managers, retail managers, global HR teams, and external service providers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a focus on Human Resources or a related discipline.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in a similar field, emphasizing operational efficiency and customer service.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HR compliance across Canadian provinces and US states.
  • Proficient in managing employee benefits programs, particularly in the US context.
  • Experience with DayForce payroll and HRIS systems.
  • Proven track record in fostering inclusive and respectful workplace environments.
  • Ability to cultivate positive relationships with both leadership and team members.
  • Fluency in French is advantageous; proficiency in Spanish is essential.
  • Willingness to travel for global HR meetings.
  • Minimum of three years leading HR functions in a diverse organizational setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Chief People & Capability Officer and global leadership to formulate the HR strategic plan aligned with business objectives.
  • Establish standardized practices in recruitment, onboarding, retention, training, and performance management.
  • Guide and develop HR team members through mentorship and coaching.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian and US labor laws and regulations.
  • Lead the implementation of Dayforce HRIS across Canada and the US.
  • Coordinate training initiatives focusing on health, safety, and employee development.
  • Advise management on employee relations matters and ensure fair application of disciplinary actions.
  • Manage relationships with benefits providers, payroll systems, and safety consultants.
  • Participate in initiatives to enhance workplace diversity and inclusion.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned within the leadership teams.
