Role OverviewThe Senior Manager of Enterprise Risk will play a vital role in overseeing the governance requirements of the Group Risk function. This position is situated within the second line of defense and reports directly to the Global Head of Enterprise Risk based in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
You will collaborate closely with the Head of Enterprise Risk and the broader risk organization to effectively implement a comprehensive enterprise risk management program for Wise. Your involvement will encompass various aspects of enterprise risk management, detailed as follows:
Risk Management Policies- Ensure thorough review, updates, and approvals of policies governed by Risk Management (2LOD), ensuring alignment with business, stakeholder, and regulatory expectations.
- Assist in drafting policies where gaps are identified, engaging in internal discussions, and facilitating committee approval and implementation.
- Collaborate with regional Risk teams regarding new policy development or amendments requiring their input, agreement, and execution, while also monitoring compliance with regional standards.
- Own and maintain the Enterprise Risk Methodology and Framework Policies, utilized for risk calculations across the organization, and establish governance protocols for risk escalations.
- Ensure comprehensive review, updates, maintenance, and approvals of risk management frameworks throughout the organization.
- Support the drafting of frameworks where gaps are identified, ensuring stakeholder feedback and backtesting reviews are integrated throughout the development process, leading to committee approval and implementation.
- Oversee the Wise Risk Governance process, including the generation of relevant management information for risk governance boards and committees, and provide support in effectively managing these committees as needed.
- Manage the Emerging Risk oversight framework for the Wise Group from end to end.
- Work closely with risk domain leads to ensure adherence to risk appetite, Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), and risk assessment processes, ensuring alignment with enterprise risk management frameworks.
- Supervise the completion and quality of Risk Assessments within the centralized Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Tool - Auditboard.
- Ensure that the logistics of risk assessments and reporting are efficient and timely, aligning with committee schedules and business needs.
- Collaborate with domain risk leads and regional risk leads to identify relevant escalations, deep dives, and reviews necessary for group risk committees, including the Audit and Risk Committee.
- Continuously enhance the quality of content presented to the board, ensuring it is concise, targeted, and clear to facilitate board insight into risks at Wise.
- Assist risk/control owners, product managers, risk leads, regional risk officers, and other stakeholders in effectively utilizing the GRC tooling for their risk assessments.
- Help track and deliver progress against principal Risk Management program adoption, execution, and remediation milestones.
- Monitor outputs from internal audit and second line of defense oversight functions, coordinating necessary inputs from Group Risk regarding remediation plans impacting existing risk exposures.
- Ensure that Group Risk complies with applicable regulations for second line of defense risk teams and operates suitable systems and controls, while also driving efficiency through automation, tooling, and process enhancements.
- Stay informed about industry developments and regulations related to risk governance.
- Develop and coordinate risk training initiatives across Wise with support from the broader risk organization.
- Liaise with regional risk functions and business units as appropriate.
This position is ideal for candidates who possess:
- Experience in mid-senior level risk management within an international context.
- Familiarity with GRC Tooling and other technological solutions for measuring risk positions and delivering actionable risk analysis reporting to senior leadership.
- Knowledge of aligning with other key risks across the risk taxonomy, including operational, financial, and strategic risks, as well as intersecting risks.
- A solid understanding of systems, management information, and reporting frameworks.
- A proven track record of independence and challenge within the second line of defense, escalating concerns as necessary.
- Effectiveness in managing change and liaising with other functions.
