Job Title: CookRhynoCare Staffing is seeking a skilled and passionate Cook to join our culinary team in a long-term care facility. As a Cook, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the nutritional needs of residents are met with delicious and wholesome meals.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals in accordance with dietary requirements and menu plans.
- Ensure meals are served at the appropriate temperature and in a timely manner.
- Assist with the serving of meals to residents, respecting their food preferences.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper storage and handling of food.
- Collaborate with dietary staff to develop menus that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of residents.
- Assist the Food and Nutrition Manager in controlling food costs, waste, and ordering.
- Monitor food inventory and communicate with the appropriate channels to coordinate ordering of supplies.
- Ensure all Public Health and Ministry of Long-Term Care requirements are met.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils.
- Assist with special events and catering as required.
- Successful completion and/or enrollment in a Food Service Worker Program meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act.
- Chef/Cook Certification from a recognized community college, preferably Red Seal.
- Must have a Food Handler's Certificate and keep it up to date.
- Experience in a Long-Term Care setting or with seniors is preferred, but institutional, health care, restaurant, or hospitality cooking experience accepted.
- Vulnerable Sector Check within 6 months.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination in accordance with the Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care's Long-term care home COVID-19 immunization policy.
- Must have a sincere interest in people, the elderly in particular, and possess a genuine sensitivity to their needs.
- Must be able to effectively handle the physical aspects of the position, including bending, standing, lifting, and working in various temperatures.
- Able to multi-task and complete required routines within assigned schedules.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable within a team environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written in English).
