Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing layouts, measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials to build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools.
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
  • Supervise other workers.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Work site environment: At heights, confined spaces, noisy, dusty.
  • Work setting: Construction, various locations, renovation, commercial, residential.
  • Tasks: Physically demanding, handling heavy loads.
  • Transportation/travel information: Willing to travel regularly.
  • Work conditions and physical capabilities: Accurate, excellent oral communication, judgement, reliability, team player.
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years, permanent employment, 35 to 40 hours per week.
