We are seeking a highly skilled Automation and Controls Specialist to join our team at Emergent BioSolutions. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our complex analytical equipment and instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities- Installation and Maintenance: Install, modify, test, troubleshoot, repair, and perform predictive and preventive maintenance on complex analytical equipment and instrumentation.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Provide knowledge and expertise as a subject matter expert (SME) and prepare technical reports with recommendations for solutions to technical problems.
- Instrument Calibration and Adjustments: Perform complex instrument calibration and adjustments to specifications set through procedures and calibration requirements.
- Equipment Diagnostics and Repair: Diagnose, service, calibrate, and repair all production, non-production, and test equipment and perform predictive and preventative maintenance.
- Control Valve and Transmitter Knowledge: Have knowledge of various types of control valves, transmitters (pressure, temperature, flow, etc).
- CAPEX Project Support: Support CAPEX projects by providing expertise and recommendations for solutions.
- Deviation Reviews and CAPAs: Support deviation reviews, corrective action and preventative actions (CAPAs), and change controls, including root cause analysis and corrective actions for OOC events.
- Process Improvement: Determine methods and procedures on new work assignments, analyze results, and develop test specifications and electrical schematics.
- Process Optimization: Propose improvements to work processes, efficiency, and quality.
- Spare Parts Inventory Management: Specify and request purchase of components and maintain spare parts inventory.
- Technical Diploma: Technical diploma in Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technology, Instrumentation Engineering Technology, or equivalent is required.
- Accredited Technician or Technologist: Accredited technician or technologist from a Canadian Association such as the Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba (CTTAM) is strongly preferred.
- Related Experience: 6+ years of related experience is required.
- Regulated Environment Experience: Experience working in a regulated environment is considered highly beneficial; knowledge or ability to learn pharmaceutical regulatory requirements is required (e.g. cGMPs, ICH guidance, Eudralex, etc.).
- CMMS and SAP Experience: Previous experience in using a Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is required; experience with SAP Plant Maintenance, DeltaV, and PLC systems is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of equipment, facilities, standards, techniques, policies, and processes; familiar with the concept of world-class maintenance and best practices; strong understanding of Operational Excellence and Lean Manufacturing methodology.
- Communication Skills: Ability to read, understand, and follow standard operating procedures, protocols, work instructions, and other policies/procedures; strong verbal and written communication skills including technical writing.
- Microsoft Office Suite: Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
