Position Overview
The Western Communities Primary Care Network is actively seeking to establish a roster of qualified nurse practitioners to collaborate with a diverse team of healthcare professionals. The aim is to provide comprehensive care to patients at various Primary Care Network Centres and Clinics within the Western Communities.
Clinical Environment
Currently in its third year of operation, the South Island PCN supports multiple nurse practitioner roles across different clinical environments. The Western Communities encompasses thirteen clinics, including those managed by private family physicians, a health authority clinic, a community health centre, and two Urgent Primary Care Centres. These facilities cater to a wide demographic, offering services to individuals of all ages, including maternity care.
Responsibilities
As the primary care provider, the nurse practitioner will be expected to build and maintain a minimum patient panel. There may be a requirement to provide after-hours care, and participation in an after-hours call group may be necessary, sharing responsibilities with fellow practitioners at the clinic.
Funding and Support
The availability of these roles is contingent upon funding approval from the Ministry of Health. The Ministry also provides financial support for nurse practitioner overhead, currently set at $75 per full-time equivalent.
