Trustee - The Smith Foundation

The William Henry Smith School & Sixth Form and College is seeking dedicated volunteer trustees with expertise in Further Education, Finance, Human Resources, or Legal sectors to enhance our committed and effective Governing Board. Our trustees come from various professional backgrounds, bringing a wealth of diverse skills and experiences, all united by a passion for delivering exceptional education, care, and support for our children and young adults.

The Governing Board plays a crucial role in:

  • Establishing targets to enhance educational achievement while supporting care and wellbeing.
  • Monitoring progress towards achieving these objectives.
  • Supporting and challenging the performance of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Formulating policies and future development strategies.

In addition to attending meetings six times a year, trustees are expected to focus on specific areas of work to assist with monitoring and participate in Open Days three times a year. To support our trustees, training is provided to build on existing skills and develop new competencies.
