What is the Opportunity?

Aecon Nuclear is proud to announce its collaboration with Ontario Power Generation on a significant project in the nuclear sector. This initiative involves supporting the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation, and site mobilization for the construction of a Small Modular Reactor.

In this role, you will report to the Survey Superintendent and be tasked with coordinating and accurately laying out various facets of construction projects, ensuring adherence to design specifications and maintaining thorough documentation.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Ensure the integrity of the established control network is maintained and validated.
  • Work closely with the Survey Superintendent to keep project survey equipment updated, serviced, calibrated, and in optimal condition.
  • Follow the project's safety protocols as instructed.
  • Plan and implement survey requirements to support construction activities effectively.
  • Maintain open and direct communication with foremen and superintendents to meet construction requirements efficiently.
  • Keep precise survey records, documentation, and stamped submissions.
  • Manage specific survey requirements to guarantee accurate construction dimensions and locations.
  • Conduct layout work at various construction stages.
  • Effectively manage as-built information and digital records.
  • Oversee, organize, and direct survey operations and personnel.
  • Communicate professionally and clearly with clients.
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to other surveyors as needed.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • 3-5 years of experience in technical engineering or surveying roles.
  • Educational background in technical engineering or surveying, or equivalent training and experience in construction surveying.
  • Comprehensive understanding of surveying principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining surveying equipment and software, including Autodesk Civil 3D.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the construction industry.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Familiarity with engineering design principles and survey methodologies.
  • Experience with GPS and total station operations, ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, and capability to lift up to 50 lbs for surveying equipment and materials.
